Partners for Health was proud to collaborate once again with the Montclair Public Library on the Open Book/Open Mind program on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
The event featured guests Richard Rothstein (The Color of Law, Just Action), Leah Rothstein (Just Action), and Ryan P. Haygood (New Jersey Institute for Social Justice). Their powerful conversation reminded us that segregation was deliberately created through policy—and it continues to shape opportunity today. The discussion emphasized that dismantling segregation requires all of us to act locally: by advocating for inclusive zoning, preserving affordable housing, and working together across communities.
We also want to acknowledge the event co-presenters: the Montclair NAACP and the NJ Institute for Social Justice; and media partner, Montclair Local. Special thanks to First Congregational Church of Montclair for hosting, and Watchung Booksellers for their support in making this important evening possible.
