HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAY WISHES!

Partners for Health Foundation’s 2016 holiday greeting cards feature Winter Songbirds painted by local residents who participated in a watercolor class offered by the Montclair Institute for Lifelong Learning (The MILL).  The class was part of the Montclair Art Museum’s Creative Aging Initiative and was taught during the MILL’s Fall 1 2016 semester.  Instructor Karen DeLuca encouraged students to concentrate on the shapes, textures and colors of the season.

Students were also given an opportunity to paint a winter songbird with the incentive that one or more of their painting would be printed as part of the season’s greetings card for Partners for Health.  In the end, 13 works were submitted by 10 students and four of these were selected for unique holiday cards designed to reflect the style of the painting.

The Winter Songbird paintings are being exhibited in the gallery space of the Vance Wall Art Education Center, Montclair Art Museum, 3 South Mountain Avenue, Montclair, NJ, from November 14, 2016 – January 3, 2017.

The MILL is an initiative of Lifelong Montclair that fosters learning as a lifelong endeavor and provides adults aged 55+ with opportunities to make social connections.  It is funded by Partners for Health Foundation and through donations from the community.
